FROM A PARTNER

What it sounds like when a doctor gets their nights back.

Mat Stewart, DDS - Bluetree Dental doctor-partner

"I was staying 4 to 5 hours after office hours to complete all of these duties, going in on Saturdays and Sundays. I now have the ability to sleep at night. After 12 years in practice, I may be able to take a vacation or two."

WORK-LIFE BALANCE IN DENTISTRY

Why practice owners are working 60+ hour weeks.

Ask a practice owner where their evenings go and the answer is usually the same: payroll, lease renewals, insurance carrier calls, vendor negotiations, staff issues, marketing decisions, IT problems, compliance filings. The clinical day ends at 5. The business day starts after that and runs into the night, plus weekends.

For a lot of dentists, that is the actual cost of ownership. Not the buy-in. Not the loans. The 4 to 5 hours after office hours and the Saturdays and Sundays you spend doing the work that has nothing to do with dentistry.

The Bluetree model exists specifically to solve that. When you partner with us, the back-office burden lifts off you and onto the central support team. Billing, accounting, IT, HR, compliance, group purchasing, all of it. The evenings you used to spend on payroll and lease renewals go back to your family. What you keep is the clinical side of practice, plus real ownership in a growing group.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Work-life questions from practice owners considering a group.

The daily and weekly reality of the transition, in plain terms.

What administrative tasks stop landing on my desk?

Billing, accounting, IT, HR, compliance, group purchasing, marketing, vendor management, insurance carrier relationships, lease negotiations. All of it moves to the central support team.

Do I still have to manage my team's payroll and benefits?

No. HR and payroll administration move to the central team. Your team's benefits become part of the group program. You still lead your team clinically and culturally. You do not process their W-2s.

How many hours per week will I actually work after the transition?

Most owner-partners cut their working hours significantly after joining. Many move from 60+ hour weeks to a 3 or 4-day clinical schedule. The exact number is up to you.

Will I lose control over hiring at my practice?

No. Local hiring decisions stay with the local practice leadership. The central team handles the paperwork, benefits enrollment, and compliance. You choose who works with you.

What if my practice has unique operational needs?

Central support is designed around common functions. Practice-specific needs are handled through local operational partners. If something does not fit the standard model, we build around it, not against it.
